Argentina

With Lionel Messi, Argentinians can dream about winning the 2018 World Cup in Russia. In fact, Messi rescued his country by scoring a hat trick in the final qualification game against Ecuador in October 2017.

Argentina’s men football team had an incredible tournament in 2014 when they had reached the finals and lost to Germany in extra-time. Four years later, many of these players hold roster spots on the team. But they are no longer tasked with winning a World Cup on their main rivals home soil, Brazil. This form of internal motivation is significant and it willed these players to success in 2014. Since then, it is clear, during the qualification round, that they have lost their intensity.

They still boast quality goalkeepers, defenders, and midfielders though most of these players have not experienced significant accomplishments with their clubs teams in 2017-2018. Collectively, they are vulnerable to conceding goals and they will provide limited chances to attack.
In attack, the forwards are exceptional and they are the greatest collection you will find in the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Gonzalo Higuain and Paulo Dybala have formed a dominant attacking partnership at Juventus F.C. Winners of the past two Serie A and Copa Italia titles, they are capable of capitalising on the few chances provided by their midfield. It remains to be seen how this partnership can flourish alongside the two remaining forwards.

Sergio Aguero is legend at Manchester City F.C. Kun Aguero has collected three Premier League titles including the 2017-2018 season and the numbers speak for themselves, he is one of the best strikers in the world. He also shares a close friendship with one of the greatest of all-time, Lionel Messi.

Much has been written about Lionel Messi. Simply put, he is from another planet and one day, sport scientists should study him extensively to unearth the qualities that generated endless amounts of individual awards, club championships, and strong national team performances. Naysayers, particularly the diehard fans of Cristiano Ronaldo, frequently question Messi’s national team performances. But there is no denying his place as one of the greatest of all-time.

Overall, Argentina can dream of a World Cup because of the embarrassment of riches in attack. The pressure will be on these forwards to score with limited opportunities but these forwards have the individual confidence to carry the team to the semi-finals of the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
